Not everyone is interested in gambling, right ? Or what if you are broke or lost all you money gambling; there are still so many things to do in Vegas when you are not gambling. So don’t loose your heart that you don’t have the money. You don’t need to break the bank for that. Check out my list of all the fun things to do in Vegas when you are not gambling or you are in Vegas with kids.
1. Hoover Dam
It was peak summer and the temperature was nearing to 118F and I was just feeling terrible. Not knowing the consequences, we drove to Hoover dam. We walked across the bridge but the hot winds were too much to sustain and this made it difficult for many people on the bridge too including me. We clicked few pictures and walked back to the parking lot.We later headed to Lake Mead and also planned to visit the West rim of Grand Canyon on the same day. However we never made it to the west rim as I suffered a heat stroke at Lake Mead and had to head back to my room.
Lake Mead was so beautiful and calm but the temperature was soaring and I was feeling tired and uneasy. We hardly spent 30 minutes in Lake Mead but I still wish if I could enjoy a lot more at Lake Mead. It was beautiful except for the heat waves.
3. Red Rock Canyon
We had not planned to hike much because of the strong heat waves and also we were not so keen to visit the casinos hence we decided to visit the Red Rock Canyon. We never hiked much trails but we just enjoyed the beauty and went with the flow.
4.Museums – Titanic Exhibit at Luxor
If you are a fan of Titanic, then you should visit this place. I have heard great things about this Exhibit, however Praveen and I are not big fans of Museums and therefore we never planned on visiting this place. The best part of this museum is the real stories of the passengers – some tragic and some with happy endings.
5. Fremont Experience
This is definitely one of a kind experience. It has the largest LED display screening in the world here. Live concerts are always happening and best part its free. Party never ends in Fremont Street Experience. You even have the street performers and random events taking place. One place where you won’t be easily bored. For the adventure seekers there is a zipline in Fremont street which makes you fly in a super hero style.
6.Ride the gondola in Venice
You can experience the gondola ride in Venice here in Vegas itself. One is inside the Grand Canal Shoppes in Venetian and other one is outside it. You can admire the beautiful Italian-inspired architecture inside the shoppes, as well as the blue sky-painted ceiling with your loved one. Its nice and relaxing far from the hustle and bustle of casinos and loud music.
7.Watch a Circus at the Circus Circus
You can watch a free circus show at the Circus Circus starting at 11:00 am daily. There are also rides for the adventure seekers in Circus Circus hotel.
8. Grand Canyon National Park
Within 2.5 hours, you can reach the West rim of Grand canyon. West Rim has the famous skywalk where you can walk on the glass floor bridge. Scary isn’t it ?
9. Hike the oldest park of Nevada – Valley of Fire State Park
Go and explore the petroglyphs dating back more than 2,000 years and away from hustle bustle of Vegas. They are open year round and have many campsites for camping. Sounds fun, isn’t it ?
10. Check out the rides in Stratosphere
The thrill rides at the Stratosphere tower is definitely not for the faint hearted and if you are not into this, you could go to the observation deck and still enjoy some great view. There is a Bar present too.
11.Watch the Bellagio Fountain
Just in front of the Bellagio Hotel is the musical fountain show which runs once every half an hour from 3pm to 8pm. Later it runs every 15 mins until midnight.
12. Ride the High Roller at the LinQ
You can ride the largest observation wheel in the world at the LinQ. It is a 30 minute experience, you can get 360 degree view of Las Vegas Strip, the valleys and the mountains. The pods are air-conditioned and transparent with a few benches to sit. You can go at day-time or night-time.
13. Visit Death Valley National Park
This is America’s driest, lowest and hottest national park. It is part of the Mojave desert with so many mysteries existing there such as sailing stones and you can find many wildflowers here. Please check the temperatures before you plan to go here. Best time to visit would be winter as temperatures would be better and somewhat lower as compared to other times.
14.Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum
Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum needs no introduction. They feature wax figurines of 100’s of celebrities from all over the world. Praveen and I have visited them in Los Angeles and hence we skipped it here.
15. Hop On Hop Off Bus tour
Just like the Hop On Hop Off tours in other major cities, this is also a similar open bus tour. You can exit and enter multiple times and they are great! Thought I haven’t used them in Vegas, I have used it in New York.
Thank for visiting! If you have any questions / suggestions / feedback you can comment below or send me an email. I would love to hear back from you.
